Spotlight On: Spectrum Security

It’s always a pleasure to highlight how two companies, each experts in their respective fields, can collaborate closely for the benefit of their mutual customers. This month, our Spotlight is on Spectrum Security, a Windsor-based company that has been installing and maintaining electronic security and fire solutions for its growing list of satisfied clients across London and the Home Counties for the past 19 years.

While Spectrum Security has built an excellent reputation for installing door entry, CCTV, and intruder systems to a very high standard, approximately 80% of its sales success in recent years has been in Access Control. Therefore, it is perhaps not surprising that they chose to partner with Smart R, the specialist distributor of Access Control solutions.

A significant portion of Spectrum Security’s turnover comes from collaborating with various specialist fit-out companies to support the refurbishment of large office spaces. Often, this involves prestigious end-user clients who need to strictly control access to just one or two floors of a multi-storey building, where the ground floor reception areas are already managed by an existing system. A true understanding of the specific security requirements of the end-user in these situations, along with an awareness of potential challenges, is crucial to the smooth running of the project. This is particularly important when there is a possibility that the building’s existing Access Control system may not be compatible with the system used by a multi-site end-user at other locations.

“In these situations, it makes perfect sense for us to seek expert advice from people who truly understand all the different types of Access Control technologies in use, regardless of whether the existing system was installed many years ago, or is new” said Bob Spooner, Managing Director of Spectrum Security.

“This is where Smart R’s advice becomes invaluable, as they have such detailed knowledge of all the many different types of card technologies currently in use and which of them will interact with each other”

Over recent months, Smart R has been supporting Spectrum Security with system design advice and the supply of ACT Access Control systems manufactured by Acre Security, with the specific intention of ensuring both backwards and forwards compatibility with any existing systems and most importantly, employee credentials.

“There is certainly no shortage nowadays of distributors who can deliver products when and where we need them, but when it comes to Access Control, and particularly when we need in depth guidance through the complexities of ID credentials and card technologies, we have found there is no better partner than Smart R Distribution.

Simply put, the collective expertise and knowledge of its pre and post sales teams is way ahead of any other supplier”.

Bob Spooner, Managing Director of Spectrum Security.

Spectrum Security is one of numerous highly professional installers and system integrators which Smart R supports to ‘Put The Right Pieces Together’ when there is a need to provide end-user clients with an electronic security solution which capitalises on the latest advances in technology.
