Format Identification

When more proximity or smart cards are needed, this can be a problem if the encoding details are not known. It’s not uncommon for the person who originally managed the system to no longer be with the company, or the original supplier of the system and cards is no longer in business.

Smart R Distribution are experts in identifying card formats and can analyse your cards to find the card technology and format encoding that you need for your replacement cards – contact us for more information about how we can help you.

Card Encoding

Access control cards are encoded in many different ways (known as “formats”) where the structure of the encoding has been designed to meet specific requirements. These formats can be defined in bit-lengths that may be as short as 26 bits (the most popular format in our industry is known as “26 bit Wiegand”) and the bit-length is almost limitless, although for practical reasons it is usually kept well below 100. Smart cards have the addition of “keys” which are numbers that are used by the reader to unlock / open a data store within the card and read its contents.

ID card encoding is a complex process that requires specialised knowledge and equipment. If you need to encode ID cards for your access control system, you need to make sure you choose a provider that is experienced and reliable. Smart R Distribution is a leading provider of ID card encoding services, with over 10 years of experience in the industry. We use the latest technology to ensure that your cards are encoded correctly and have the expertise to help you choose the right cards and the best encoding format for your system.

Whether you need to encode a few cards or thousands of cards, we can help.

CUSTOMISATION & PRINTING

Most cards are manufactured to be printed upon and are usually made out of PVC or composite PVC / PET. Often, ID card printing consists of the name and picture of the user for identification purposes and can also be used to indicate authority for tasks such as fork-lift driving and health & safety etc. Card printers allow a card to be printed instantly and having your own printer gives you that flexibility to print a card at a moments notice.

However many only need to print cards once in a while or maybe just print cards for a new installation, meaning that buying a printer isn’t necessary as it may sit idle for months, gathering dust. This is where our identity card printing service can help you, by assisting with your design and printing your cards. When combined with our encoding service, when you receive your cards they are “ready to go”.  If you need your cards printed then do contact us to discuss how we can help you.
